Your /tus columns are interesting.” More than 500 preparatory and ; school editors from the South ■ittended the 19th annual Southern Interscholastic Press Association convention at Lexington, Virginia. A partial list of speakers at the convention included: Wesley E. Carter, newspaper designer, editor of the Linotype News; Marquis Childs, Washington columnist; William T. Cook, yearbook expert, Campus Publishing; Tom Hanes, managing editor, Norfolk Ledger- JMspatch, Alex Raymond, artist and creator of “Flash Gordon.” Mrs. Frederick Witton is facul ty adviser for the paper. The staff includes: Jody Atkins, editor in chief. Charlotte Lindsey, associate editor; Barbara Dinwiddie, busi ness manager; Atrice Cranfill, art editor, Petra Brown, literary editor, Caroline Atkins, society and club editor; Joan Drake and Betty Norton, grammar school editors; Ethel Clubb, eighth grade editor; Mark Shuford, exchange editor; Bill Saunooke, sports editor; David Longcoy, comic edi tor; Sara McDougle, manager of advertising copy, Jerry McCall, manager of typing staff; Tommy Spence, sales and circulation man ager; Judy Matthews, manager of color reproduction; and Joan Hendron, manager of black and white reproduction. All members of the Journalism Club acted as reporters for the paper. PHONE 3481 *3 0 C I E T Y Clubs - Parties - Meetings ★ ★ TEA AND TOPIC CLUB HONORS SENIOR CLASS The Tea and Topic club and their husbands entertained the members of the senior class with a picnic at Lake Tomahawk Mon day night. By drawing names of states and matching them, each senior found a partner with whom to eat the abundance of hamburgers, wien ers, relishes, slaw, potato salad, donuts, coffee, and tea. This was followed by group singing, games, and relays. The last will and testament was read by Arri etta Burnette, the class history by Patsy McDougle, and the prophecy by Joyce Gouge. Dancing in the club house concluded the festiv ities for the evening. Committees in charge were: food: Mrs. R. T. Greene and Mrs. Ted Holman; invitations, Mrs. W. W. White and Mrs. S. S. Mrs. Grady Morgan, who is with the health department, will speak on the results of the recent health sur vey. During the business meeting the officers for the next year will be introduced. JI NIOR-SENIOR BANQUET FRIDAY EVENING The junior-senior banquet, an annual event of Old Fort High school, will he held on Friday evening at Ragle’s at eight o’clock. Virginia Chrisawn, president of the junior class, will act as toast mistress for the* occasion. Special guests will include mem bers of the local school board, the county hoard, their wives, and members of the high school facul ty, including their wives. Seventy five guests are expected.
